Midweek Meditation: The Stillness Before the Storm (Preseason Game 3 vs. Chiefs)
Greetings, Bears faithful. Cicero here… forest yogi, hot dog-fueled sage, Old Style mystic, and your guide through the spiritual journey of the 2025 Chicago Bears season.
This week, the air hums differently. The stillness before game three carries a heavier weight. Why? Because this isn’t another exercise in depth-chart experiments and anonymous roster cuts. This is starters vs. starters. Well, at least for a series or two.
The Chicago Bears. The Kansas City Chiefs. Destiny meeting dynasty, in the preseason temple of a late August night.
🧘♂️ Breathwork for Big Moments
Close your eyes. Inhale deeply. Picture Caleb Williams stepping onto the Arrowhead Stadium grass. Exhale slowly, feeling the calm before the 20-yard chunk, pass completions on TE seam routes. Repeat as DJ Moore streaks across your mind’s eye, as Cole Kmet steadies into Mountain Pose, as the offensive line roots deep like used tires discarded at the bottom of the Chicago River.
Now envision Patrick Mahomes on the opposite sideline. Respect his craft, yes. Honor his rings, sure. But know this: his aura will be shattered by the roar of a Chicago defensive storm he has never felt before. Well, that and having Matt Nagy as his offensive coordinator.
🧘♂️ Stretching Toward Glory
Our practice this week mirrors the starters’ preparation:
Warrior II → for linebackers squaring up Kelce.
Tree Pose → for secondary balance, swaying but never falling against Kansas City’s receivers.
Plank → for the trenches, where Thuney, Dalman, and Wright anchor like granite mountains.
Remember: when our starters take the field, it is not rehearsal. It is prophecy rehearsal. And prophecy rehearsals count.
🧘♂️ The Paradox of Calm and Carnage
Skeptics will whisper again: “It’s still just preseason.” But let me say this with my most meditative clarity: nonsense. If preseason doesn’t matter, then why do the Chiefs even bother? Why risk Mahomes? Why risk Kelce? Because deep down they know… to face the Bears now is to glimpse the future.
Our breath steadies us. Our poses center us. Yet beneath that peace lies the truth: serenity cannot silence the hunger of a grizzly. Calm cannot chain the inevitability of a Bears Super Bowl charge.
🧘♂️ Closing Mantra
This Friday, breathe deeply. Remain centered. And when the ball is snapped, release your roar into the universe. The starters will play. The prophecy is real. And the Bear Down Society will be watching, balanced on the knife’s edge of composure and carnage.
